It is unbelievable, but nearly every day I have at least one email from a reader asking “How do I lose stomach fat?” It seems as though the stomach is the main area of concern for most people looking to lose those extra pounds. Cut abs after all are the sex symbol of the decade. So Just how does one lose that extra stomach fat they may have accumulated over years of beer drinking and chicken wing eating? It’s not as cut and dry as most of you think. Below I will go into much more fat busting detail:

Lose Stomach Fat Via Dieting
By far, the most important step to shedding those extra fat pounds on the stomach is a persons diet. Whether you are 14 or 114, your diet plays a major role in the way your body will both look and feel. The idea is to eat a low calorie, low fat diet to keep your body fat percentage down as low as it can go. In my personal opinion, it is more important to stick with the lower calorie plan than the low fat plan. Both are important but if you must stick with one of the two, go with low calories. Stomach fat is not different then any other fat on your body. It will burn off if you burn more calories then you take in. Depending on genetics though, you may lose fat in other areas before your stomach. This part is out of your control. It is also important to stick to food with a low Glycemic index value.
Here is a list of the top 15 Stomach Fat Busting Foods (They have a very low Glycemic index). This list is from the list of hundreds of foods in the Belly Fat Loss Guide
Artichoke
Asparagus
Avocado
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Celery
Cucumber
Eggplant
Green beans
Lettuce, all varieties
Low-fat yogurt, artificially sweetened
Peanuts
Peppers, Green, red, yellow, hot, mild, etc
Snow peas
Spinach
Most shakes and weight loss formula’s do not work, however one of the best Formula’s is the Tri-slim formula which Helped me personally lose over 65 pounds in 8 weeks. You can get a free 1 month sample here: Free Tri-Slim Weight Loss Sample
Lose Stomach Fat Via Exercise
Exercise is the second most important fat busting action you can take to dieting. What excercise does is burn calories which will make your body go into its reserves, fat, to use as fuel. This means stomach fat! Like dieting, it will depend on your genetics as to what areas lose the fat first, however most people will show signs of stomach fat loss within just a week of moderate exercise. What types of exercise is best for the destruction of that nasty fat? Cardio or Weight Training? I would recommend a mixture of both cardio, and fast paced weight training. Remember the more muscle you have on your body, the faster your metabolism will work. This means that even when you are lounging on the couch watching your favorite episode of “Lost,” not only will the characters in the show be “lost” but your stomach fat will be too. Do 30 minutes of cardiovascular excercise, like running, or biking, and 30 minutes of fast paced weight training 3-4 times per week each.
Health Benefits of Losing Stomach Fat
Stomach fat has been known causes of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and a whole laundry list of other health problems. An Overweight person will typically live on average 5-10 years less than a person of normal body weight. An overweight person will also be twice as likely to pass away from a major health event like a heart attack or stroke, vs the normal weighted person who will most likely survive it. If you are overweight, whether it be in your stomach, thighs, butt, face, or generally all over, the health benefits of losing that weight far outweighs giving up that cheeseburger and having to sweat a little bit every now and then.
Lose Stomach Fat and Become Attractive
Everyone wants a six pack. The six pack is basically the #1 sexy zone on the male and female bodies. The media has unfortionetly been showing fat stomachs as nasty, unattractive, and grotesque, while they show models, tv stars, and athletes with those six pack stomachs to die for. You don’t need a six pack to look sexy, but an overall weight loss, especially in the stomach region can do wonders for both your self confidence as well as others perceived sexiness of you.
The Most Common Stomach Fat Myth
The most common myth we have heard from people who claim to know how to lose that fat around the belly is that you must work your abs. This is the furthest from the truth as anyone can possibly get. Fat is not attached to your abdominal muscles. It is attached to the skin covering your stomach. Working a certain muscle may define the muscle and build it under the skin, but unless you lose the body fat, those muscles will not show. Once your body fat is extremely low, by doing crunches, oblique exercises, and other areas to work the stomach area, your abs will become much more noticeable since the muscles themselves will be bigger. Note that doing ab exercises while you have a good layer of fat on the stomach area will only make you look fatter. Why? Because the abs get bigger, thus pushing the fat layer on your skin outward.
There is a whole science behind the loss of belly fat. I wish I could go into more details and guide you through the whole process, such as your exact diet and types of exercise you should so, but I don’t have the time. Like I said above, The thing that helped me the most personally was the Tri-Slim Fat Lose Shakes They offer a free 1 month supply, so you should give it a try at least.

Great Advice Andy. I was on a diet to loose as much fat as I could on my stomach, but what I found was preventing me from losing the fat was I had been concentrating on stomach exercises instead of my diet and total body exercise routine.

i remember not too long ago at the gym when I overheard a personal trainer approach someone who was doing a ridiculous amount of sit-ups and asked what his targets were to which the trainee said to lose stomach fat! *sigh*.. anyway, had a bit of a pot belly but it is going down fast.. just my bottom two abs are covered but not long now! I do 2 x cardio for 55mins and 3 x weight training with 15min cardio at end… 5 days in total a week.

the issue of fat, fat loss, individual metabolism and biochemistry is complex and i don’t believe in one solution for everyone. i myself eat a very high fat diet – animal fat, butter, lard, coconut, hemp, olive oil. i avoid trans and hydrogenated fats where possible, no low cal, fat free, artificially sweetened products.
i have what you’d call a six pac, actually it has 8 defined parts, and i’ve seen 10 on others.
the traditional inuit eat a high % of fat.
to successfully tailor a body shape involves a custom solution set using a buy-down protocol as there are no magic bullets

I think understanding how we accumulate belly fat and body fat in general as w ell as how our metabolism works in respect to body fat is vital.
Many belly they can ‘burn’ their body fat through exercise, but this is a little misleading. When we exercise we actually burn a proportion of ‘dissolved’ fat in our blood which in turn ‘de-saturates’ our blood of this dissolved fat commonly known as cholesterol.
When our blood becomes desaturated of cholesterol at a certain point our body only then starts to break down stored fat!
It’s when you start to understand this process you beging to appreciate how diet and ‘regular’ exercise enters into the equation.
On one side you have to limit the foods which ‘contribute to fat being ’stored’ while on the other side of the coin you have to ‘constantly’ de-saturate your blood of cholesterol to promote the dissolving of your body’s current fat stores.
Doing both effectively equates to burning the candle at both ends!
In effect providing for some serious fat loss results!

I’ve tried so many diets and workout programs it’s almost silly. The one I got the best success with, in regards to my stomach fat being reduced, was the Paleo Diet. You might want to look into that if you want fast results!
