Hurricane Kyle Projected Path

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 6:08 pm

Well folks, we have yet another hurricane about to form in the Atlantic basin. What soon will be Hurricane Kyle is projected to possibly cause a mess along the New England coast by this weekend. Below is the national Hurricane centers projected path for Tropical storm Kyle. The map will update every 3 hours as the national Hurricane center gives its updates:
hurricane kyle projected

The Track of Kyle all depends on the weather setup, however the NHC seems to have good confidence in a track that will take the storm likely off the coast of New England by Sunday morning. As of 5 pm today (Thursday) Cape Cod is in the cone of error, and with an 11% chance of this reaching Category two strength, this could be a major disaster in the Cape Cod Massachusetts area as well as Boston if projections verify.

The problem with hurricanes in the norther part of the Atlantic like Kyle is predicted to be, is that they mvoe at tremendous speeds giving residents along coastal communities very little time for preparation. So although the current projected path is for Kyle to move to the East of Cape Cod, a small change in direction withing a few hours could be the difference between rough surf, and a ten foot storm surge as well as cat 2 hurricane force winds. Stay tuned to the national hurricane center as well as out blog for the latest projected track as well as projected wind speeds of soon to be Hurricane Kyle. Remember to be prepared even if there is a slight chance of impact in your area. We all saw what Katrina and Ike have done over the last few years.

Regulation Sho List

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 11:05 am

Today marks a historical day for the SEC. As you obviously are aware of if you have anything to do with stock trading, the market has taken a dive in the last 2 trading days. Most of this fueled by the Lehman bankruptcy, as well as the Federal reserve bank bailing out American Insurance Group with a $85,000,000,000.00 loan.
regulation sho

Many experts think that the cause of AIG’s collapse has something to do with the lack of regulation in short selling. The Regulation Sho List is which can be found at: Nasdaq Regulation Sho List is put in place to inform traders of current shorts. “Regulation SHO” was enacted to curb the practice. It requiring that broker-dealers have grounds to believe that shares will be available for a given stock transaction, and requiring that delivery take place within a limited time period

Today the SEC enacted new regulations.

The first eliminates an exemption for options market makers to deliver shares of companies placed on so-called threshold lists (reg sho list) Companies are listed when they have a high number of borrowed shares that haven’t been delivered.

The second SEC rule imposes harsh penalties on brokers if their clients haven’t delivered shares to buyers three days after a short sale. For the security that hasn’t been delivered, the regulation restricts brokers from conducting any additional short sales on behalf of all their customers.

Almost Back to Back No Hitters

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 7:14 pm

Today we almost had a record setting game by the Chicago Cubs. Ted Lilly for the cub almost gave Chicago the first Back to Back No-Hitter in the Major leagues in almost 40 years. In September of 1968, no-hitters were thrown in back-to-back games during a series between two teams. On Sept. 17, Gaylord Perry of the Giants no-hit the Cardinals, 1-0, at Candlestick Park. On the following day, Ray Washburn duplicated the feat for the Cardinals with his 2-0 win over the Giants. This was the only recorded time that a team accomplished this feat.

no-hitter back
Yesterday, September 14th, Carlos Zambrano of the Chicago cubs threw a no-hitter against the Houston Astros in Milwaukee. Yes I sad Milwaukee. Due to Hurricane Ike the series was moved up north. Today also in Milwaukee and also against the Houston Astros,Pitcher Ted Lilly had a no hitter through six innings before Astros batter Mark Loretta’s seventh-inning single.

The Cubs sure are on fire, and despite not getting the would be amazing feat of back to back no-no’s they are well on their way to the playoffs. With over two weeks left in the season, they have all but clinched the NJ Central division. Interesting enough in 1969 The Astros and Reds through back to back no-hitters, but each team had one.

The Oprah Boycott

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 1:24 pm

I’m not a big fan of the Oprah show. Why? Likely because I’m a younger aged male who doesn’t have the time to hear Oprah talk mainly about things that are targeted towards middle aged women primarily. Despite that I’m not a Fan, I still do respect the woman, and think she has helped America in quite an influential way. This is why when I heard about a possible Oprah Boycott I was somewhat peed off.

Republican Vice presidential candidate, Governor Sarah Palin was rejected by Oprah an appearance on her show. This has caused quite a stir throughout the female community. The Florida Federation of Republican Women Calls Freedom of Speech into Question because of Oprahs Palin rejection. Frankly I thnik these people need to get a life. Freedom of speech is what allows Oprah to discuss what she wants, and who she wants, not vice versa. These people think they should be running the Oprah show. If they are so upset why don’t they try creating their own television talk show? Ah let me guess…. They don’t have the abilities that Ms. Winfrey does. What do I have to say about that? Tough luck. Oprah has been an American fixture for decades now. She earned the right to talk to whoever the heck she wants. If you girls want to boycott the show, go for it. A boycott will make a fingernail sized dent in her media giant of a show.

Oprah’s response to the boycott fiasco is:
“At the beginning of this campaign, when I decided I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates.”

For your information Oprah is a supporter of Obama, yet he has not been on her show, nor has Joe Biden since Obama announced he was running for president back in 2007. If the republican party wants to become a dictatorship, telling us who should and should not be allowed to be interviewed on the Oprah show, then I know who I will be voting for. Let’s boycott the boycotters!

Flurge, Flerg, Flerj – Huh?

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 12:15 am

Alright well before I goto bed I noticed my inbox was exploding with new email questions. This time it was about a mysterious word, Flurge, which is also sometimes spelled flerge or flirj. Anyhow, I am unsure why everyone is suddenly emailing me about these flurge words, but I decided to do some research:

So what does Flurge, or Flerg mean:
Flurge – A cross between flush and purge
“I flurged the wax from my ears.”

As for a reason why these odd, words (can I even say words since they are not listed in the Webster dictionary?) are being wondered about, I honestly have no clue. I am guessing maybe a tv show or something. If you have any further info on the words Flurge, Flerg, Flerj or why they are being looked up all of the suddebn, please leave a blog comment and I will fill everyone in via email.

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 5:45 pm

We had 32 emails from people today looking for pictures from Hurricane Ike damage. Although the storm has not come ashore as of this blog post timestamp, we have dozens of Ike pictures being sent in to us. Below I have posted just a few of the images we have received thus far.

Hurricane Ike is right now a category 2 storm, with sustained winds of 105 miles per hour. Having said this, the storm surge of Ike is that of a high category four hurricane. We will continue to update this blog post with new pictures as we get them.

Below, Ike approaches the Texas Coast. Employees of the Galveston Flagship Hotel overlooking the Ocean watch as the water creeps up:

Below, is a picture from Galveston Island where a man walks in floodwater. The scary part is that the storm is over 13 hours away at the time of this picture:

Galveston Web Cameras – WebCams

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 2:25 pm

As Hurricane Ike approaches Galveston Texas, in what could be the worse hurricane for Galveston in 108 years, the internet world is looking for live webcams from Galveston. Cameras are places throughout the hurricane impact area for anyone with an internet connection to monitor. Below is a link to the main hub for the Galveston Web cams:

Galveston Texas Web Cameras

In 1900 Galveston Texas was struck by what was the worse natural disaster in United States History. Over 8,000 died in the monster storm. Hurricane Ike, already is inundating the Galveston coast with storm surge, which in many areas is expected to reach over 20-25 feet. Galveston Island will be completely under water for up to 18 hours, some experts claim. This could be a disaster that challenges that of Hurricane Katrina from 2005.

This category 2 storm has a category 4-5 storm surge associated. We expect that within 5-7 hours from now you will begin seeing cameras at the Galveston web cam site going down. We pray for everyone that decided to stay. Reports say that a good number of people have not evacuated. It is too late now. Stay tuned to profiles blog, as we will post new links to the latest web cameras from the Galveston and Houston areas. If you have a link we have not listed to a webcam, please feel free to comment on this blog post and we will immediately add it to out list.

Hurricane Ike Projected Path

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 2:16 pm

Although, not officially Hurricane Ike as of yet, we do feel Tropical storm Ike will become a Hurricane within 24 hours. This Tropical season is off to an incredible start. Remember folks, September 10th is the Peak of the season, thus we are a good week away from the peak. Now, onto the projected path of Ike. The national hurricane center is predicting Ike to track pretty rapidly towards the west for the next 4 days then they expect the path to go slightly to the south of west.

Below I have pasted the current projected path that the NHC predicts will culminate over the next 5 days. The image below is constantly updated every 3 hours and will be for the remainder of the storm:

Hurricane ike projected

Ike is a storm that should start getting media attention here soon. Although we are more then 5 days out of any United states landfall, it looks like Ike could possibly track into the Gulf of Mexico, possibly over the peninsula of Florida sometime early next week. This could end up a very dangerous path if in fact Florida is also affected by Hurricane Hanna, which the National Hurricane center is currently predicting.

Now that we gave you the projected path, lets talk intensity. Currently the experts predict that Ike will be somewhere in the Bahama’s come Sunday September 7th with possible maximum sustained winds at around 90-100 Miles per hour, making this a strong category 2 Hurricane. All interests along the United States Gulf and Atlantic Coasts need to follow the developments of Ike, and make sure you have your safety kits prepared in case the path takes him your way.

As a side note, the current track of Ike looks all too familiar to the one Hurricane Andrew took back in the 1990’s. I sure hope the outcome isn’t the same.
