Had a couple emails from Everquest fans about the the patcher getting stuck on the ruleIndex.dat file. Well, The guys at Launchpad claim that the problem is fixed and no longer will there be an issue for people running the updater. If you are still getting stuck at ruleIndex.dat which using the patcher, then please comment here with the problems and My buddies in high places will hopefully let you know what the issue is. There should not be issues any longer though. Some people are reporting getting a EQGame.exe error before the character select screen. Anyone with this issue that foudn a solution feel free to comment below.

I had this problem but fixed it by downloading the ruleindex.dat file through the lon patcher and copying it to the eq lon folder. I have the file I used to fix the problem in this post if anyone wants to download it: http://blog.jhetbhlak.com/2008/06/03/eq-patcher-hanging-bug-ruleindexdat/
