We wrote earlier today about the uncontacted tribe along the Peru and Brazil border. More and more info is pouring in. After our initial article we got several dozen emails with more information about this tribe, as well as others. Our research has indicated that there are close to 100 tribes worldwide which have yet to contact the outside world. One of the most interesting and isolated tribes is that of the Sentinelese.
The Sentinese are a tribe living on north sentinel island in the Indian ocean. The are so isolated that it is nearly impossible to tell exactly how many tribal members exists. It has been estimated that as few as 40 members are in the tribe, and as many as 500. No one has gotten close enough to the tribe to really get an accurate reading. Experts are also unsure of how badly the Sentinelese were impacted by the massive title waves that affected the island back in 2004 after the well known earthquake.

Virtually nothing is known of the Sentinelese language, and no word lists have been collected by researchers. Most experts agree that the language is related to an Andamanese language, but how closely it may be related to other languages of that family is unknown. The Sentinelese are actively hostile to unknown intruders requiring frequent shows of peaceful intent before allowing outsiders to come into arrow range. Most observers are from afar, and seldom do people dare get into arrow range.
