Remembering Cabin #28 at Keddie Resort

Category: Uncategorizedadmin @ 8:40 am

Just thought this was an interesting topic being discussed on TV this morning.

27 Years ago in April, one of the most brutal murders took place in a Keddie California Resort cabin #28. The most amazing thing about the murders is that the killer is still unknown and at large. Three peopel were killed in all. Glenna Sharp, 36 years old, her 15 year old son John and 17 year old family friend Dana Wingate were bludgeoned and stabbed to death in cold blood. The other daughter, Tina Sharps body wasn’t discovered until 3 years later, 95 miles from the cabin resort. Below is a picture of the now infamous cabin #28.

Anyway, since the murders, Cabin #28 was claimed to be haunted. In fact the whole area was somewhat haunted, claimed many people living in the area. What makes it even more Hollywood movie like is that the town of Keddie California located in the North East portion of the state has a population of only 96. In 2004 they tour down Cabin 28 to deter ghost hunters in the area from trying to trespass onto the property.

Okay so this is a bit creepy if you ask me what we need is better cops who are some of the suspects?

  2. vanessa says:

so was the strangers based on this event??????????????

  3. Brandy says:

I live in Oroville, about 60 miles from Keddie and my friends and I drove through there last year and from what I understand they r opening back up. Renting out cabins etc. They did tear down the cabin where the murders happened.

  4. JustAGirl says:

There are no suspects. There seems to be no motive what so ever.

And yes – The Strangers is partially based on this event.

I was on another website to find out what the movie was inspired by. It was inspired by the director/producers childhood event. At midnight someone came to the house asking for someone who didnt live there. And later on he found out the empty houses in his neighborhood were robbed.
It also does say that this event is very similar to the movie, so I think in an undocumented way the movie The Strangers is some what based on the Keddie Cabin Murders.
We just saw the movie today—freaked us the **** out!

why doe’s every one keep saying and asking is keddie murders based on the strangers it’s not it has nothing to do with the movie. and the cabin is gone but it will always be haunted oh well live withem cause they are not going any where. i think if they reopen the camp site the killer might come back and do it again leaving nothing to chance rename the cabin the keddie house cabin in respect of the dead. but stop fucking asking to question the keddie murders and THE STRANGERS has nothing to add here remote the cabin was remote the hyot family vaction house wasn’t remote just no one was around at the time.Further more there where more than one murders in cabin 28 that night it took place when i was 3 years old but i was told about it growing up and still the lengend is true and so is the strangers get your facts right people all is true all is right one night it will happen again and this time some or someone’s are going to slip up and get caught so remember lock door’s and windows he he he!!!!!!!!! the boogy man is comming

i think this whole thing is really creepy—but is it really haunted? People always seem to think places are haunted if someone is murdered somewhere. California must not have a very good police force in general b/c they also have the Zodiac killer from the ’70′s still unsolved.

Yes—the Strangers is partially based off of this

  8. jboi502 says:

the movie the strangers was based on this and on the manson murders. but, mostly this.

  9. JUDA says:

keep your truth abouth the strangers and the manson murders apart nothing about the keddie murders is based on this ok diffrent times.

  10. Michelle Richardson says:

I think about those Keddie murders a lot since watching the Strangers and while there seems to be little I can do to help with the real case, maybe we can all send a collective prayer out for the victims. Because as much as I love a good mystery, the peace of those that died horribly is far more important and I know that a lot of you feel the same way.

This is truly sad. Why are ppl so crazy. As years pass i blame it also on the media. For giving these ppl ideas and messing with their heads. I hope and pray for those ppl to get mental help. More days go by. And the more crazy stuff ppl come up with. I hope you rot in helll you crazy no giving a care ppl. :( im super sad.

I watched the strangers last nite, and found the film very creepy. I heard it was based on real life so i looked it up on the net.wot i saw and read made me even more creeped out!!! the film was nothing to do with wot happened in real life, the real true story was much more scary and creepy. my heart goes out to those poor people, its not too late to find that monster!!!!!!!

  13. Night Seeker says:

I believe there are clues that are very obvious that are just getting over-looked. This case is solvable. Not saying that it is a piece of cake, but this case can be solved. I think too many people around here more wanted to forget the hurt that came with this horrible crime than to piece the puzzle together.

  14. Lulu Barrera says:

Hmmmm….I’ve read a TON about these murders, everything I can. I lived in Plumas Co. and attended school with one of the victims sisters. My sister lived in Keddie (after the murders) and I’ve seen the cabin. Was it haunted….I don’t know. Was the movie in part based on Keddie….I don’t know. What I do know id there are a lot of people committed to finding out the truth and there are some very viable suspects, so I suggest anyone who wants to know more research it……the info. is out there. As always, be so respectful of the families…….with love for Renee
