Dean Kamen, the man who invented the famous Segway, as well as the iBOT Mobility System has come out with another publicity magnet, the Robot Arm. During his long career Kamen has won several awards. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1997 for his biomedical devices and for making engineering more popular among high school students.
Kamen has just showed if the Robot arm at the D6 convention where onlookers were simply amazed. Kamen has named the arm “Luke” after the Starwars hero Luke Skywalker. The Robot like arm is incredibly sophisticated, and experts claim it is “lightyears” ahead of anything else in the field. This is a major breakthrough for the unfortunate people who have lost arms. The robotics are controlled by the mind and work seemlessly, almost as well as an actual functioning arm would.
Deservedly so: Kamen’s arm, dubbed “Luke” (after Skywalker, I assume), is an incredibly sophisticated bit of engineering that’s light years ahead of the clamping “claws” that many amputees are forced to use today. Below is a Picture of Kamen on a segway:

The Robot Arm is seen in use in this video they just released at Db:
