There is this company in Silicon Valley called Ausra. Remember this name because Ausra in my opinion is the future, not only profits wise but environmentally speaking. They are trying to build a gigantic solar thermal power plant twice the size of any that exists today int he world. Thus far the company has raised over $40 in round one of financing. They are looking to build a 175 megawatt plant, in Oakland Calif. The technology has been around since the early 90s, when Ausra’s founder David Mills, thought of the idea at Sydney University, and worked on it with scientist Mr. Graham Morrison in the late 1990′s, but Ausra wasn’t formed until late last year, 2007.

This technology was jointly developed from the early 1990’s by both Professor Graham Morrison and Dr David Mills. Mills developed the optical design of the concentrator while Morrison developed the thermal design of the absorber and system operation.
